Rancho Canada Golf Club is a Public, 36 hole golf facility located in Carmel, California. The facility has two 18-hole golf courses. They are The West Course and The East Course.
Both courses were designed by Bob Putman. The courses opened for play in 1970.
West Course __________
The West Course meanders back and forth over the Carmel River at the mouth of picturesque Carmel Valley. One of the more demanding holes is #12, a 415-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over the river to a narrow fairway flanked by stately cottonwood and sycamore trees.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,357 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,600 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 521 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 156 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 521-yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 16, a 156 yard par-3.
The course closed January 8, 2016. The East course is scheduled to close January 2017.
Most of the golf course is on land which was leased in the late 1960's from the Hatton family. The family decided not to renew the lease, but instead, to put the property up for sale.
The Hatton family found a buyer, the nonprofit organization Trust for Public Land, who was able to pay the $10 million asking price.
Trust for Public Land is buying the property "to provide a gateway to the adjacent Palo Corona Park, restore the remainder of the golf course to a natural riparian environment, and to use the clubhouse as the permanent headquarters of the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District.

Much more difficult in the wind. Poa annua grass greens were true and fairly fast. Some especially challenging holes.

Very good public course based on value, conditions, and availability of tee times. Ply several times a year.
